Aria - Passage

This is what Wikipedia has to say about an Aria: "An aria (Italian for air; plural: arie or arias in common usage) in music was originally any expressive melody, usually, but not always, performed by a singer. The term is now used almost exclusively to describe a self-contained piece for one voice usually with orchestral accompaniment."

The song Aria by A R Rahman is a typical Aria in the movie Passage by Shekhar Kapur. The song has been sung by Kavita Baliga (Yes! An Indian!) and the music is phenomenal. You can read more about the movie at here.

The song gives you a feeling of something freeing itself and venting out in the air. It feels as if the singer is standing on a rotating disc with a single stream of light focussed on her in the midst of utter darkness. And, as she sings, she dissolves calmly into thin air as if there was another way of meeting death.

The movie is equally moving. As much as the movie is short, the impact is great. And, the crystal work in the movie. Man!!!!! You wonder if such things as crystal stages etc. will ever show themselves in your life.

So, go ahead and enjoy this song.

P.S.: Need help from someone who knows French , with the lyrics. I know very little French. :)
